While exploring Prague it is impossible not to encounter the TRDELNÍK, a delicious local treat that combines the splendor of crepes and churros into a beautifully packaged bundle.
The pastry is made by wrapping the dough around a stick, grilling it, and then coating it with a mixture of sugar, cinnamon, and almonds. Now most stalls will include the option of having nutella spread inside the pastry.
TRDELNÍK initially grew popular in the 17th century, although similar foods were prevalent in the Neolithic era as the primary method for cooking dough was to wrap it around a stick and place it over an open fire. In fact, TRDELNÍK translates to clodpole, referring the stick used to create it. Nowadays, the pastry is a favorite both among locals and tourists, bringing vendors a handsome profit.
If you’re ever in Prague, stop by the Old Town Square and enjoy one of these scrumptious delights.
